TEAM NOVA RACE EXTENDS SEAT LEON CUP LEAD AS GRECO, TORELLI TAKES TWO SECOND PLACES AT MUGELLO
Reggio Emilia, July 17th 2017. Matteo Greco and Gabriele Torelli extended their Seat Leon Cup lead, as the Nova Race due claimed two second places at Mugello, in the fourth round of the one-make series' calendar.
Torelli started from the first row in race one, after he set the second quickest time in the qualifying, sharing the wheel with his team mate who was able to complete a perfect job. More exciting was Race 2, when Torelli made a great fight in the last laps to maintain his podium position. Actually Greco leads the Junior class standings too.
Poor luck for Alberto Biraghi, in the other Nova Race's car, who suffered the hot weather condition that marked the entire weekend, eventually taking a a best fifth place in race two.
The same Tuscany track hosted also the Italian GT, although the up and down hills of the Mugello penalized the Ginetta G55 GT4s compared to the rival Porsches.
Luca Magnoni, who was the GTS leader, claimed the second place in race one, but moved down second in the class standings, only 11 points behind the first.
A heavy storm prevented newcomer Andrea Marchesini - who paired Alessandro Marchetti - to take part in the second practice on Friday. They claimed a best fourth place in race one.
The next round of Italian GT and Seat Leon Cup will be held on 9-10 September at Imola, after the summer break.
