NOVA RACE'S GINETTAS CLAIM DOUBLE PODIUM AT IMOLA IN THE ITALIAN GT CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND
Reggio Emilia, September 13th 2017. Team Nova Race claimed last weekend a double podium finish in the fifth of seven Italian GT rounds at Imola.
Luca Magnoni led his Ginetta G55 GT4 car to P3 in race one. The same did his team mates Alessandro Marchetti and Mark Speakerwas in race two, sharing another car of the Emilia-based squad.
Magnoni in race two finished fourth, just behind the Ginetta of Marchetti and Speakerwas, taking an important result that let him to maintain a 26 point gap from the lead, still with two rounds to be held.
Once more Ginettas were not helped by "balance" and despite a great handling on this track they paid in terms of engine power towards the rival cars.
It was a perfect weekend for Magnoni, who also entered the two GT3 races pairing with Luca Magnoni on an Audi R8 LMS. The duo finished second in their class in race one, after they had to pay a drive through penalty; eventually they claimed the GT3 victory and a sixth overall place - with 16 cars on the grid - in race two. Magnoni coudn't celebrate his triumph on Sunday, because he had to prepare for the following GTS race.
After a one week break, the next round of the Italian GT is now scheduled for 23-24 September at the Vallelunga circuit, where Nova Race is confident to have a better BoP for the Ginettas.
